Microblogging has been on the rise in the last 2 years with two main players that emerged in that time. Although Tumblr and Posterous both focus on the same idea of easy and quick blogging experience, they achieve that in different ways and tools. Tumblr concentrates mostly on social sharing while Posterous focuses on easy posting on all possible platforms you might have access to (mainly email). Tumblr initially won more audience due to the amount of themes they were offering with enormous ease of customization. They have reached more socially engaged public which clearly resulted in enormous boost in number of users. Although both platforms have mobile applications and are actively being developed, Posterous seems to be far behind when it comes to number of unique users.
